Does one need to quit smoking to participate?
No. Take Your Butt Outside is a campaign to eliminate second-hand tobacco smoke in homes and cars. It's not an anti-smoker campaign or a campaign to quit smoking. It's a campaign to get smokers to smoke outside.
Who can register family members?
It must be a person who is responsible for the household – someone who has the authority to make decisions and commit the family. This could be a mother or father, a member of a couple, or one of a household of roommates.
Obviously this needs to be discussed and the decision needs to be accepted by everyone it affects, especially if smokers live in the home!
As for children, they cannot register their family members for the Smoke-Free Family program, but they can encourage their parents to do it!
Can I register more than once?
No. We accept only one registration per family. Any duplicate registrations are automatically withdrawn.
How do you ensure that the winning families have respected their commitment?
We contact the person who registered the family, as designated by the random draw. In order to receive the prize, this person must submit a written, sworn declaration attesting to the fact that the family’s commitment not to allow people to smoke in the home and car was respected.
